After taking charge of NSUI in Rajasthan, Abhishek Choudhary’s power display in Delhi

After taking charge as the prez of NSUI in Rajasthan, Abhishek Choudhary has made a direct move to Delhi regarding student issues. Today, he reached Delhi with around 200 students and staged a protest outside the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) building. However, Delhi Police and CRPF personnel barricaded him, citing Section 144 in the area, to prevent him from reaching the main gate of Shastri Bhavan.

Interestingly, NSUI’s National President Neeraj Kundan was present in this demonstration conducted by the NSUI state unit to boost the morale of the students.

Abhishek Choudhary’s Demands:

NSUI students have raised demands for providing relief to students across the country due to the post-COVID situation. In relation to this, students had come to Delhi with two specific demands. Rajasthan State Prez Abhishek Choudhary stated that after the economic downturn post-COVID, parents are unable to bear the burden of their children’s fees.

Keeping this in mind, fees for at least one semester should be waived for all students. Additionally, in line with how first and second-year students were promoted without exams, the same method should be applied to promote final-year students without exams for degree completion.

Furthermore, Abhishek Choudhary mentioned that the situation after COVID-19 is not conducive for conducting exams, and in such circumstances, conducting exams would adversely affect students’ lives. For students residing in remote areas of the state, coming to universities and colleges to take exams is a significant challenge. If exams are conducted, students would face difficulties in maintaining social distancing and avoiding COVID.

In 2019, Abhishek Choudhary gained attention for stopping the Delhi Metro in protest against student demands before taking charge of the NSUI in Rajasthan. Despite becoming the state prez, he has again chosen Delhi for his first major protest.
