Congress Appoints New NSUI Rajasthan State President Within Hours of Leadership Changes in the State

In a direct fallout of the Congress’ political crisis over the leadership issue in Rajasthan, lots of big changes were made to key positions. Two ministers who were really loyal to the previous leadership were also removed from the council of ministers. State Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara has now been appointed as the new Pradesh Congress Committee chief.

Following these major changes, another official, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) President of Rajasthan, Abhimanyu Poonia, decided to leave his post in solidarity.

The Congress acted super fast and appointed a completely fresh Rajasthan State President for their student wing! Within only an hour, Neeraj Kundan, the National President of NSUI, made an announcement about the appointment of Abhishek Chaudhary for the position. Here’s what the statement said: “Abhishek Chaudhary has been appointed as Rajasthan NSUI state president with immediate effect. We are confident that he will work with absolute full energy to reinforce the organization as well as the Congress Party and uphold all constitutional values”.

Abhishek Chaudhary, who was previously just the Former General Secretary of NSUI, took to Twitter and expressed so much gratitude! He thanked Rahul Gandhi, Neeraj Kundan, and also the NSUI office bearers for appointing him as the Rajasthan NSUI State President.

Here’s a little bit of background information: In May this year, the Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi picked out 24 office bearers of the party’s student wing NSUI right before the new session in the universities. The interim party chief had appointed six General Secretaries and 18 secretaries in the student wing.

The Congress has this big goal of bringing back the student wing to life! You know, it has been facing this huge challenge in consecutive elections at Delhi University where ABVP has been winning. The party had some recent success in the student body elections in Gujarat.
